Surrender is about surrendering to the flow of the river of life.  Allowing yourself to let go of your controls and release patterns or habits that no longer serve you, so that your body and mind can resource and reboot - allowing your spirit to soar with greater eases and grace as you walk your chosen path.  This painting also speaks to the presence and importance of the Fluid Body - a tangible field that extends beyond the physical body.  I have experience perceiving and working with this field via CranioSacral Therapy.  When we release stored fears and trauma, our fluid body is also able to expand and move more freely - which in turn helps nourish the physical body.
